Position

We were early adopters of the AWS cloud when we migrated over 6 years ago. We continue to strive to stay up-to-date and use new and emerging technology to both save money, time and bring more value to our customers.  We have a lot of the AWS technology offering in play, be it in production or in an experimental context. We're looking for someone to join us in this journey. 

We are looking for an intermediate Production Support Engineer to work within a small, nimble development team.  This position is an engineering and maintenance role to contribute to a small team responsible for applications that support hosting and network operations. As a part of this team, you will work on escalated client support tickets that are reported by Customer Service and internal customers.

In this position, you will contribute to both the support and operations of Rebel's existing cloud application, as well as the architecture and deployment of new cloud solutions.  You will be working on the hosting, email, DNS, and domain systems that power the websites of our many customers.  

For this position, we require an Engineering, Computer Science or related degree or diploma and 2+ Years of development and systems administration experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor system stability and performance and troubleshoot site issues
  • Administering Unix/Linux and Windows based systems
  • Administering database systems (MSSQL, MySql)
  • Working with hosting/email/dns management tools including Exim, Postfix, Apache, Bind, power-dns, iptables; also platforms including Plesk and Virtuozzo
  • Maintain and improve existing AWS infrastructure
  • Coding and scripting using a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
  • Working with infrastructure as code tools such as Opsworks, Cloudformation and Terraform
  • Contributing to IT operations processes

Skills:

  • Deep proficiency in system administration, security, networking and web technologies
  • Understanding of core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST/SOAP, FTPS/SFTP, DNS, SSL, firewalls, load balancers) 
  • Knowledge of AWS Services including: EC2, VPC, S3, ELB, EBS, RDS, Route53
  • Agile & Scrum project management techniques
  • Analytical skills for performance measurement and data driven decisions
  • Progressive Release

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience in enterprise Linux and Windows, configuration management, software development, and agile processes
  • 2 years with scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python or JavaScript.
  • 2 years writing or editing technical documentation.
  • Time needed to achieve this level can vary and be dependent on other factors.
